Review of The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989) by Bre?Yana — 27 Aug 2008
Peter Greenaway outdid himself with this one. It's like watching a painting come to life. Greenaway uses light and color to showcase; what is essentially good and evil. One scene could be red and then the other could be white.
You see the wife's turmoil and then you see her happiness. emotions go up and down in this movie. Be prepared to be taken on a ride with this one. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Oh, and the ending is the cherry on the cake.
Enjoy!
