Review of The Conversation (1974) by Scott P — 26 Jun 2008
Excellent underrated film by master Francis Ford Coppola. Made in the middle of the Godfather and Godfather Part 2, the Conversation tells the story of a workaholic surveillance expert who's wrapped up in an audio recording-job and becomes involved with the two people whom he records.
Intense character study. Gene Hackman is terrific. Coppola creates a wonderful atmosphere. The editing and the repetition feeds the audience minor details throughout that make you crave more.
