Review of The Conversation (1974) by Steven B — 08 Jan 2009
Gene Hackman is at the top of his game in "The Conversation". He is virtually in every scene of the movie, so we only see what his character sees and know what he knows. I felt like I really got to know this guy and rooted for him to help the other characters who were in danger.
The ending might leave you guessing because of the sharp turn that the situation takes. This is a classic detail-laden noirish drama about one man who has an ethical dilemma related to his job as a private listener for hire (wire-tapper).
I am eager to see it again and again so I can notice new things. A young Harrison Ford and Cindy Williams also turned in great performances.
