Review of The Conversation (1974) by Mitch M — 25 Sep 2010
This is a great film about a lonely man named Harry Caul(convincingly played by Gene Hackman) who happens to secretly listen in on people's conversations. Coppola makes his picture a haunting, intriguing film that involves a murder plot.
The dream scene is one of the best as I got to know a bit about Caul and his last name, another good scene is the murder montage an homage to Hitchcock's suspense. It's pretty sad that Caul has to live a lonely life and feel a state of paranoia as to rip apart the floors and walls of his San Fransisco apartment, suspect that someone might be bugging on him.
Filled with a great suspense and intrigue "The Conversation" is a film that should not be ignored. One of Coppola's best films.
