Review of The Conversation (1974) by John M — 22 Nov 2010
Unfortunately one of Coppolas semi forgotten masterpiece as it was sandwiched between the 2 Godfather films. This being Coppolas own project, it was filmed with a much lesser budget, but still very effective as he managed to create something suspeseful with an excellent performance from Gene Hackman who plays a freelance surveillance expert who is obsessed with his own privacy.
The job has made him so paranoid that he chooses to be very careful about himself. Coppola was unstoppable in the 70's as he made such great classics and this should sit proudly along with the Godfather films and Apocalypse Now on quality alone!
