Review of The Conversation (1974) by Jerem M — 24 Jan 2013
Sometimes I wonder why so many critics jump on board with certain movies. This one has much critical acclaim but really it's quite boring and even outdated. It's supposed to be a thriller but it's more a character study.
Gene Hackman gives one of the best performances of his career, but it's not enough to save the sinking ship. A much better surveillance film is the more recent German period drama The Lives of Others.
