Review of The Conversation (1974) by Jordan R — 24 Dec 2013
If you go in expecting "The Conversation" to be a traditional "what does it all mean" mystery, you'll be disappointed. While it may appear that way on the surface, the film is actually a fascinating, slow-burn character study of a man who lives by his work and the psychological pain that ends up causing him.
Gene Hackman also turns in a stunningly subdued performance, completely carrying the film.
