It sticks to a pretty traditional political thriller plot, but The Constant Gardener is truly successful because it also tells the heart-wrenching story of a man looking for the truth about the murder of the one he loves.
It's this emotional investment- fueled by outstanding performances from Fiennes and Weisz- that makes the big picture of the film so much more personal.
