Review of The Conjuring (2013) by Olivia M — 05 Nov 2017
Overall, I thought the conjuring film one was better than the second film. The reason I feel that this film scored so high for me is because of how in-depth the story was. We really get a feel for the Perron family and learn their tendencies in the beginning of the movie because of the time dedicated to character development in the movie.
I feel that this really helped us to go attached to the family. The movie does the something with the main characters, the Warrens. I also enjoyed the numerous scare tactics used throughout the film. For example, there were lots of build-up scenes.
You would know something was coming, but never when. Although the movie may have had a good plot and good scare tactics it also had some issues. I feel that the end of the film was very rushed. When Carolyn became possessed it seemed she was only that way for a little while and didn't show much signs of distress when in the beginning of the film when the Warrens were teaching their class they showed the "Three Stages of Possession" in which they stated that the host will show great signs of distress before they become possessed when Carolyn never showed this signor any of the others for that matter.
I feel this movie had good potential and if some of the minor plot problems were fixed such as the one mentioned above it could've been made into something really terrifying, and great.
