Review of The Conjuring 2 (2016) by Paul A — 27 Nov 2016
Judging a horror movie based on its level of fright is pointless in a time when james wan can make a horror movie that makes the audience feel emotionally involved with the characters and that too in a big way.
the conjuring 2 is an example of a horror movie that can have depth and realism to it by portraying the actual sympathetic position of the victim. it has been done before in the exorcism of emily rose, the sixth sense , the babadook and other movies and its pleasing to see the horror genre still giving priority to the characters and their position rather than just being plain scary by providing cheap jump scares.
the conjuring 2 also has excellent performances from its cast especially from Madison Wolfe, who brought her character, Janet hudson to life. but although conjuring 2 is a refreshing treat, there are more than a few predictable jump scares especially to those familiar with the first installment in the series.
overall the conjuring 2 is the horror movie you've been waiting for after the series of terrible horror films that has appeared. I give conjuring 2 a 8.3/10.
