Review of The Conjuring 2 (2016) by Kyle20Ellis — 13 Apr 2020
Despite not quite reaching the same level as its predecessor, this still managed to hold up surprisingly well for a horror sequel. James Wan does what he knows how to do best, which is make an imaginative and chilling film with several tense moments throughout.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga also deliver strong lead performances once again. Overall, while it does explore familiar territory for the most part as well as draw from some horror and possession cliches, most of that is made up for through its fair share of clever and tense scares as well.
