Review of The Conformist (1971) by Michael W — 21 Jul 2013
Both a visual treat and and a compelling narrative, The Conformist reminds me much of Coppola's The Godfather. It's about a man's troubling choices and the effect it has on him and those around him.
Both dark and cerebral, as well as beautiful, full of shots reminiscent of Lang's Metropolis and Kubrick's Space Odyssey. This film clearly has had it's impact on the works of many to come.
