Review of The Conformist (1971) by Sakari L — 30 Sep 2008
A portrait of a man who, traumatized by his childhood, becomes an insecure adult who only ever does what everyone else tolds him to. Intriguing combination of psychosexual motifs and politics, ambiguous cinematography and a challenging way of interlacing the past with the present - this has to rank among Bertolucci's best works.
