As a person who loves historical political dramas, this delivers. Is it exceptional? No. I'm not saying that Ben Shepherd (Shia) is not smart but his ability to figure items out seems a little exaggerated.
In "All the President's Men," we can see the bread crumbs, and sources going on the record. Not so much here. I can live with it because the story is compelling and I enjoyed the performances.
