Review of The Company of Wolves (1984) by Michael L — 08 Jun 2007
As one reviewer once commented: this film fails as a straight horror movie (which is how it was promoted in the U.S.) but succeeds wonderfully as an example of 'goth porn'. Angela Carter's twisted fairytale is reimagined by the combined dark imaginations of Neil Jordan (Interview with the Vampire) and Anton Furst (production designer on Tim Burton's Batman).
This strange and often confusing film is certainly not for everyone, but is a wonderfully realised nightmarish (literally) tale with a pitch-perfect performance from ingenue Sarah Patterson.
