Review of The Company Men (2010) by Melinda W — 03 Jun 2011
There are some good performances in this film (from Tommy Lee Jones and Chris Cooper), but it has a fundamentally poor script. The 3 story lines are so cliched and predictable that they are frankly a bore to watch.
But where this film really fails is in building any sense of empathy with the lead characters. They are all exceptionally rich white men, struggling to come to terms with having to sell the porsche. There are very few people who can relate to this and as a representation of the hardships of the GFC, it is plain insulting to Main Street.
