Review of The Company Men (2010) by Ron G — 17 Jun 2011
Well intentioned but flawed examination of the effects of the failing economy on 3 characters who suffer from corporate downsizing. Casting and acting is good, but the problem lies in trying to sympathize with characters who were living the high life and are on the arrogant side and now are suffering the consequences.
Writer/Director John Wells tries to include the working class' view with the blue collar character (played by Kevin Costner in a minor role) but it doesn't really help. There are important issues here but perhaps if they were centered around middle class working characters it might have worked better.
