Review of The Company Men (2010) by Terry B — 29 Jun 2011
This is a good movie. Really shows the pain of the economy right now. The movie wants the audience to live the experience of being laid off along with the characters and does a good job of it. No one is safe, if you think you are too powerful and too important - untouchable- and this would never happen to you, you are fooling yourself.
That is why we must help each other in times of need. Great acting, good story, real situations, the only thing that goes wrong is the ending. In reality, which it was trying to portray, the multi-millionaire x/boss is not going to feel sorry for you even if he is kicked out of his job.
No one is going to save you like Tommy Lee did for Ben Affleck, you are going to have to swallow your pride and work your network as much as possible or if that doesn't come out to positive outcomes, you will have to work super hard to make yourself stand apart from the other candidates.
The idea is to stay close to family and friends and rely on their encouragement to get you through these hard times no matter how hard and pride swallowing that is, as seen in this movie.
