Review of The Company Men (2010) by Paul D — 19 Nov 2015
The indie Up in the Air from a different angle, coming out of Sundance 2010 and focusing on three lives affected by the downsizing at a major shipping manufacturer after the 2008 economic downturn. A superb cast who are serviceable in their roles if not a stretch for any and enjoyable to watch.
Doesnt add anything new to the story of this era of American economics and those it affects, and their seems to be a lack of urgency to the project since while all of this is going on, the characters seem to find ways to adapt for the most part with the exception of Chris Coopers character.
Extra points for the redefintion of the family lives of all of the men as the nature of their professional careers change. Decent if not inspiring.
