Review of The Color of Money (1986) by Marc B — 04 Sep 2011
When one talks about Martin Scorsese films this one always seems to get overlooked. Having watched this again the Color of Money is still solid and is a great follow-up the the classic The Hustler. The link is Paul Newman as Fast Eddie Felson a pool hustler in the first film who is now a bar owner.
In his bar walks in Tom Cruise. The guy is a great pool player so Newman decides to take to kid under his wing and teach him how to hustler pool. People forgot how good Tom Cruise was in the 80's.
Here he more than holds his own with Paul Newman. Cruise was smart pairing with himself with great actors early in his career. What else can you say about Paul Newman. The guy was just great in everything he did.
The movie falters towards the end.
