Review of The Color of Money (1986) by Cory B — 23 Jul 2008
A sequel to the 1965 film 'The Hustler,' 'Color,' is a great movie; superb performances from Cruise, Newman, and a great cameo from Forest Whitaker combine for an excellent film with some of the best cinematography I've ever seen.
I never knew pool could look so cool on camera. That being said, the film isn't anything original. It has an formulaic mentor/protege setup that we've all seen before, except THIS time, it's with POOL.
Then of course the mentor screws the protege (or does he?) and all the other random bullshit you get from 80s flicks that fail to impress. Don't get me wrong; it's definitely worth a watch. But not if you're looking for something unique.
