Review of The Color of Money (1986) by Drew T — 25 Oct 2008
Accused by many of being decidedly "mainstream" fare for the innovator Scorsese; while it may very well be so, it is groundbreaking mainstream if only for its technical daring, hyperkinetic camerawork which puts you on the pool table, and the sheer entertainment from observations of not only a great game, but fine acting, especially Newman, who finally won his Oscar here.
The sequel to The Hustler is, like most sequels, inferior to the original, but the likability of Newman and the advent of the younger Cruise makes it worth watching. Pretty slick filmmaking.
