Review of The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) by Connor O — 05 Feb 2018
SUCH A FUN MOVIE!! Great cast, great directing, I cried 3 times and it left me feeling uneasy like any good horror should. I immediately empathized with all the characters and felt like I knew them a lot longer than I did from the natural way [most of them] interacted.
Exposition was casual and minimal (with the exception of one little clunky but probably necessary part early on) which I honestly love- it aids in suspension of disbelief and lets you just get sucked into the surreal plot without having to listen to a ton of drawn out psuedo-science that doesn't make sense anyway.
The only people who are leaving bad reviews are probably chronic overthinkers (you know, the kind who constantly complains about explosions in star wars) and racists who can't relate to a diverse cast.
