Review of The Circle (2017) by House M — 23 Jul 2017
What a wasted opportunity to create an interesting and gripping look on social commentary of the most amazing, yet scariest technology in the 21st Century. The cast is a complete waste and the most unlikable characters I've seen in some time, especially that of Watson who was quite frankly horrible.
She has no screen presence, no real intrigue nor is her acting capability on show. The supporting cast is wasted and also incredibly bland with absolutely no depth. The late Paxton and Boyota have cameos with no effect, both Hanks and Oswalt are pointless and serve no purpose either, going so far as actually being irrelevant throughout and nothing but a face for an audience to try and connect with but with the reasons explained above this just falls flat.
The film itself suffers from a boring and un-interesting plot that ultimately feels like an utter waste. It's clear what the intention was, but the reality is that this is so far off the mark it should never have been made at all.
