It is a great movie. I fisrt saw the movie, then read the book, then saw back the movie. The fact that Irving worte the script for the movie speaks for itself. He left out some bits/characters from the book, I don't really miss in the movie.
It is a very nice story about discovery of life and love, and most important things in life. Absolutely fantastic casting. Michael Caine, and Tobey Maguire are sublime!
