Review of The Chumscrubber (2005) by Eden N — 15 Sep 2007
A lot of offbeat scenes. To me almost none of them had any resonance or felt like they signified anything. I almost felt at times as though it was a cynically conceived attempt at making a cult movie, but I'll be generous and say that Glenn Close's fever dreams about weeding in a bedroom, Lou Taylor Pucci's cuckoo clock freakout, and Ralph Fiennes dolphin fixation were attempts at communicating something that fail utterly.
Parts are likable, but nothing coheres, and the bit of nonsense that gives the movie its name is some stupid shit.
