Review of The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) by Mayank A — 08 Jan 2014
Chronicles of Riddick is bigger in every department as compared to its predecessor(Pitch Black) but that doesn't make it a better movie. With bigger budget we get better CG, multiple locations and even a more bad ass muscled powered Riddick.
But what worked for pitch black was it being a low budget unknown movie, the cheesy dialogues were enjoyable/acceptable. Riddick was also about stealth and sly in Pitch Black. This time he is pure action machine.
I did enjoy Van Diesel a lot a riddick with his punch lines and stylish action but this may not be a movie for all. With the bigger budget in hand it tries to do too much and in doing so opens big/unbelievable plot holes.
Go in for the mindless action which by itself is a enjoyable ride.
