Review of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) by Alex T — 01 Dec 2015
I remember seeing this film for the first time when I was like 5 or 6 years old. I used to love it, and I also had a PSP game with Narnia. But I had no idea what the film was about like 2 hours ago. And right now I am a little bit disappointed.
If I were a small kid and I'd enter a wardrobe where I'd find mythical creatures and a sky and an atmosphere and snow and shit, I'd definitely join the creatures for a cup of tea. Fuck no! I'd start screaming and running!
The story is great for a kid's movie, but the filmmaking style just sucks and it feels so conventional and unoriginal. Also, the pace is way too fast at the beginning. The director doesn't take his time to build the characters and establish the plot and the relationships between the characters. After the first 10 minutes, we are already deep into the story. And that is awful.
I always loved adventure/fantasy films, but this one is a waste of time. However, I'll rate it 3 stars for the great universe it manages to create and because it is really entertaining. 63/100.
