Review of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) by Kevin R — 21 Nov 2018
This is an excellent film. Very underrated! It is a very faithful novel adaptation and one of the best novel adaptations ever. I remember reading the book in sixth grade when I was 12 years old and liked the book. Then a year or two years later watched the movie on TV and ended up loving the movie. The movie is equally as good as the book. I love the cast. The cast is wonderful. The acting is good. The characters are decent. The character development is great. The CGI was pretty good for its time and still holds up a bit. The action is okay. The plot is good. The story is excellent. I love this movie and it will always hold a warm place in my heart. But I do have one minor problem with this movie.... it's PG instead of PG-13. It would've benefited even better with a PG-13 rating cause of the action and killing. I mean Aslan tearing off the White Witch's face with his claws should've been shown with a little bit of blood instead of it happening offscreen right after the screen transitions to the part where he moves his claws to tear her face apart. The PG-13 rating was a hugely missed opportunity. Disney played it too safe with a PG rating. There should've been a little bit more blood and violence, especially considering how the violence was described on the pages of the books. But other than that, the movie is excellent.
Rating: 7.7/10.
