Review of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008) by Hannah S — 28 Dec 2011
I wanted to wait to review this till after I had rewatched "LWTW" cause I had said I liked this film more than the first one. Now that I have I realize that I don't like it more it's just that I like it because of different reasons. My one fear for this movie was that they were going to repeat what they did last movie. That they didn't, except for the battle scenes which I admit were unnecessarily extended and didn't really help the film.
What I enjoyed about this one is seeing the development of the Pevensie siblings. Especially the aspect that are still kids but have the memories of a life that went into adulthood. You notice this more with Peter who struggles with being a teenager again after being a adult King. I agree with Dave (and this being my main critique of the film is) that they could of fleshed out the characters a little more and have less battle scenes although they were done effectively for a "PG" movie. I also enjoyed conflict between Peter and Caspian because it still shows Peter's feeling of being King and here is this Caspian kid who's ancestors ruined the Narnia they knew and loved. The flirtation between Caspian and Susan I thought was kind of cute and something that would naturally happen but again due to time constraints couldn't explore any more of.
If this wasn't a film made for the young and young at heart, they could of gone the way of the LOR film in regards to film length. Which would of allowed more character development but it was already almost 2 and a half hours and any longer would of been too long.
Overall I loved this movie even with it's flaws and all.
