Wyler thumbs his nose at the Hays Code. A remake of his own earlier watered-down version 'These Three', both based on Hellman's play. In the later film, Wyler deals with the lesbian theme head on, delivering an exceptionally realistic and sensitive portrayal of a lesbian relationship.
Shame it ends in tears.
