One of the best films of all time, based and adapted from my favourite play of all time, Lillian Hellman's The Children's Hour, directed by Billy Wyler. Best suicide drama ever. Shirley Maclaine breaks my heart every time I watch.
And it is not supposed to be about lesbianism as much as it is about the power of a lie--according to Lillian Hellman herself.
