Review of The Children of Huang Shi (2008) by Holly S — 07 Jul 2008
Beautiful cinematography, excellent performance by lead actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and certainly portrays the life of an amazing man. Yet, somehow I expected something a bit different . Although it's the story of a person's life (so this is probably an unfair statement), I found aspects of it a bit too predictable.
Actually, I was most moved by the surviving children (now men) speaking during the closing credits - made me think it might have actually made a better documentary than the usual "inspired by" version.
Overall though, better than most movies out there these days.
