Review of The Changeling (1980) by Brad G — 27 Oct 2010
The Changeling is the Haunted House film to judge all Haunted House films. After recently loosing his wife and child in a horrible car accident, widower George C. Scott moves cross country and into a palatial Victorian mansion.
Unfortunately, it's a mansion with a dark secret as well as a vengeful poltergeist. The plot really isn't as remarkable as any other flick of this nature, but Scott and director Peter Medak expertly craft suspense, mood, pain, and plain old heebie-jeebies like no one else.
A classic of the genre that does not get enough credit. VF.
