A very good and sometimes scary movie starring George C. Scott. Scott's character witnesses the tragic death of his family in an accident then moves away to get on with his life. Trouble soon follows when a house he moves into starts trying to tell him something.

Scott is great in this film. It is so much better to see an intelligent adult dealing with the strange and eerie than it is watching a bunch of teenagers being chased screaming through the woods.

A lot of people find this to be quite scary but I think its more loaded with atmosphere and suspense. The little wheelchair was certainly freaky, though. When I watched this for the first time, there were a couple of times when I did get goose bumps.

The music in this film is beautifully haunting and is one of my favorites soundtracks.

This is not a gory film at all and I'm not sure why it has a "R" rating. It may be due to its rather shocking reveal of a past heinous act that occurs with a child.

If you love haunted house stories, this is another to add to the list of the best. It's right up there with the original "The Haunting", "The Shining" and "The Others".
