Review of The Central Park Five (2012) by Ross B — 15 Apr 2013
Ken Burns, Sarah Burns, and David McMahon direct this immensely powerful documentary on the Central Park Jogger case and how the justice system in New York failed five young men. The film centers on the five minority teenagers who were wrongfully charged and convicted with the brutal assault and rape of a 28 year old white woman in Central Park in 1989.
The teenagers were put through marathon interrogation sessions in which they were promised to be sent home once they gave them a story. Watching the documentary, it is harrowing to see how five teenagers' lives were ruined for a crime that they didn't commit.
As a law student, this is your worse nightmare to have a case like this. I highly recommend everyone to watch this documentary and not forget this story.
