Review of The Cave (2005) by Brent F — 21 Dec 2010
Despite what I was hoping, The Cave was not a great movie. It looked promising at firest, however I believe that after the characters began plotting their escape, it all went downhill from there. When they were escaping, it was a little hard to follow. I didn't understand their escape plan at first, but I got it after a while.
Another issue was that they showed too much of the monster. We got some really good looks at it, which is bad because the less you see, the better. Another problem was that due to the size of "Titan's Hall", the movie lost it's sense of claustrophobia. Also, the ending was really bleak and dumb. "I think it wants to get out" is a horrible closing line, and how did she get infected anyway?
If it had been handled differently, I think The Cave could have been an excellent movie. But, this is a typical modern horror/B movie with too much CGI and not enough good plot.
Thank you for reading my review.
