This drama is quite good and real. I don't know about back then, but the story seem up to date even till now 2016 and in another country! Ernest Borgnine and Bette Davis are poor average family. Ernest save up many years and finally have enough money to buy a limo cab.

Debbie Reynolds suddenly announce she is getting married to Rod Taylor. She want a small simple wedding. The uncle Barry Fitzgerald was quite upset when Bette say the small wedding is only for immediate family and he isn't invited.

Soon the neighborhood and friends know about the wedding and Bette want to make a grand one. Partly because she don't want Debbie to feel left out after suffering so many years with them. Ernest and Debbie give in.

Then many unhappy things happened. Debbie best friend is jobless and can't afford the dress. Many unfamiliar people has to be invited. Bette taking it out on Ernest for not providing enough. Everything needs money and is costly, the family almost broke.

Debbie exploded and finally convince Bette to drop the idea. Ernest in his true hard exterior mellow that Bette only thinks about their children, Barry and others but never him. Now that Debbie is getting married, their son going away for military school, Barry also suddenly getting married.

The whole house will be only the 2 of them and living together till old. Bette think through and realize it better now. They go ahead with the small wedding in church.
