Review of The Case for Christ (2017) by Janet B — 06 Apr 2017
For so many years I was taught that faith in God and Christ was delusional. I studied Sociology as an undergraduate. I had to go to graduate school because Sociology is a pretty unemployable major.
As I became more versed in law, I began to realize that the arguments opposing faith in God and Christ were really quite weak. Half-hearted sarcasm and writing it off as mass delusion became obvious indicators that one was lacking sufficient knowledge in the subject matter and the intellect required to formulate legitimate, thoughtful and compelling arguments.
Much like Strobel, I began to critically examine the historical data, medical evidence and even the latest findings concerning the Shroud. I found it remarkable that even the botanical data on the Shroud is scientifically sound. This led me to re-read the Bible. When one reads it half-hazardly and without a truly scientific eye, so much is missed. It's not sufficient to read it like an article placed in a reader in a Sociology class in college. An accurate and thoughtful read of the Bible requires rather exceptional intellect. Not one thing is inconsequential.
Like Strobel, I was quite humbled by the findings. I saw the film today and was quite taken with how similar his journey was to mine. The merit of the subject matter is exceptional. Well done.
