Review of The Captive (2014) by Robert D — 17 Feb 2015
I only saw this because Ryan Reynolds might be a guilty pleasure of mine in films, except action hero which he is not great at. This seems to be too much like "Prisoners" which happens to be one of the best films I've seen and this doesn't come anywhere close.
Reynolds does a good job, showing emotion and the supporting cast of Speedman and others is great. I just feel like it was all a sub par replay of "Prisoners" and never really grabbed your attention like it did.
It is a beautiful film shot in Canada, but that's just not enough to save it. 3/5 JD.
