There's more than a couple of shots that look ineptly made, even if most of the film's cinematrography is pretty great. Paul Schrader's The Canyons fails at keeping the viewer interested, and James Deen falls flat sometimes; on the other hand Lindsay Lohan, is convincing in his role as the miserable, unhappy Tara.
