Review of The Candidate (1972) by Chandler V — 03 Nov 2008
This is simply the "Rocky" of political films. A basic nobody is thrown into the limelight to run for Senate simply because of his political family pedigree. He struggles with running on his ideals versus campaign "rhetoric" but realizes he must compromise himself for the greater victory.
Redford epitomizes the "lost man", and all he can muster for his results are "What next?" What next, indeed.
