Review of The Call of Cthulhu (2006) by Justin H — 16 Apr 2008
H.P. Lovecraft's work has a terrible history of adaptations to the silver screen, but this is one instance where the director got everything right! Where a small budget and unknown actors can often be a hindrance, the team behind this film turned all that into a brilliant advantage. By filming The Call of Cthulhu as a black & white, silent movie, they not only managed to capture the feeling of the era, but circumvent a lot of the budget restrictions as well.
If you're a fan of Lovecraft's work, or if you have an appreciation for silent movies, I cannot recommend highly enough that you see this film. You won't be disappointed.
