Review of The Call of Cthulhu (2006) by Graham M — 11 Jul 2013
Creepy and brilliant. A silent picture, done on a shoestring budget, yet utterly faithful to the bizarre and dread-filled atmosphere of Lovercraft's story. Simply a great film of Mythos horror. If only big-budget motion pictures could tell stories so capably.
Many have noted it the film is shot in the expressionist style of Murnau, and many are right. A wonderful homage to both that era of filmmaking and to Lovecraft, whose influence on twentieth century and subsequent horror fiction cannot be overstated.
Do not miss this treat.
