Review of The Butler (2013) by Vadim D — 10 Jan 2014

There are a lot of positives in this film, amongst them, the acting, the make up,and a memorable story, but it seems to just brush over large parts of history with nicely packaged, and easy to swallow vignettes.

I think the ambitions of the project overcame the ability to establish connections to the people in the film. Oprah plays the only character that gets close to that. Of all the civil rights films this year, this isn't my favorite one.
