It is pacing is problematic, the ending is a bit political and maudlin and the picture is evident Oscar-bait, but The Butler is nonetheless a film worth a watch with excellent performances from its committed cast, especially Oprah's performance, gripping portrayal of its eras and presidents and an overall engaging, if lengthy, story.
