Review of The Butcher Boy (1998) by Eamonn C — 16 Jun 2007

I discovered this movie because I had just watched Neil Jordan's Interview With a Vampire and the fact that the star of this movie and myself share the same first name, Eamonn. It is not very common for me to see someone else with that name unless I am in Ireland. Anyways, this was a good movie. It can also be considered a black comedy. This movie is real and disturbing because this movie is definetly something that could happen. I liked having the older Francie narrate the movie, that gave it sort of a satirical feel to the story. We see Francie transition from an eccentric young boy to a down right mad boy after he loses everyone he loved, and the person that he hated the most stole Joe from him.
