Review of The Butcher Boy (1998) by Alan G — 06 Dec 2009
I was truly shocked by how much I loved this movie. I'm usually quick to criticize child-actors, but Eamonn Owens did no wrong in this film! His performances could have easily been campy and over-the-top given the animated and charismatic nature of the character, but it always stayed genuine.
Be warned, however, that this film is a bit of a comedy... but a VERY dark comedy. While the mood is many times upbeat and fast-paced, the subject matter gets awfully unsettling at times.
