Review of The Brown Bunny (2003) by Mark J — 19 Aug 2007
I don't necessarily agree with ebert about it being the worst film in cannes' history but this film angers me (especially since I love buffalo 66). it's just a long-winded and pretentious way to market gallo's dick, it's just the product of flaming ego (see the credits).
I think what angers me most though, is the fact that the blowjob is the focal point of the film when the beauty could've been in the journey there. rather he makes minuscule things like kissing cheryl tiegs "the connection of two lost sould".
overbearing. unbelievably pretentious. blergh! also, I find it hard to believe that he wrote, directed, edited, produced AND was the dp. come on, give the crew some credit. wtf is "support"? gallo is just a child following what he believes are indie film "conventions" in a delirious search for praise and acclaim.
but what I liked about it was its "glacial pace".
