Review of The Brothers Bloom (2008) by Mark D — 16 Apr 2010
From the moment I first saw her in this , I thought something was odd about Rachel Weisz. Not the eccentricities of the character she plays, but her. It took me almost the whole movie to realize that she was suppressing her native accent. This was a travesty, because I LOVE that accent.
Anyway...
This was a fun, quirky con movie that had a few flaws that keep it from being really great. I can't go into them without spoiling things, but lets just say I had some issues with some of the things that the characters did, and how the story ultimately played out.
Acting is good all around, and the scenery is fantastic. I really liked Bang Bang, despite her not saying much(or anything at all really).
Plus, the title confuses me. One brother is named Bloom. This is not their last name, so why is this called The Brothers Bloom. Just because it sounds good? Alliteration and all that? odd.
